There are now hundreds of article directories now registered that you can send your articles to, and software out there that will do it for you. But this is not the best way to get traffic to your website.

There are the 5 main directories that you should join, and just a few other top directories to target like your SEO life depends on it (yes, there are others, but these are the Big 5):

• GoArticles.com
• iSnare.Com
• ArticleBeach.Com

These sites have two things going for them:

• They have healthy Google PageRank (PR). PR is a very detailed technical topic, but you can think about it as an indicator of site power, or value.
• A link to your site from a PR 8 page counts a massive amount more than a link from a PR 1 page (higher is better). EzineArticles.com has a PR 6 on the home page, and GoArticles.com has PR5. 
• Some of the best directoires will bleed this pagerank down to your article. We have a nice list that you can request if you sign up to our newsletter on our website. Just click on one of the links below and once you have joined it is in one of the newsletters that we send you out in the first week.
• These article directories have low Alexa numbers. Alexa.com is a site that ranks the popularity of websites in terms of the traffic they get. In the list mentioned above we also give you their alexa ranking.

A lower Alexa number means a site is more popular (it’s good to be “number one” on Alexa, like Yahoo! is). You can download a small piece of software thatwill tell you where your website is listed in alexa.

This will then sit at the bottom of your website for you to see the rank of any website that you visit. This is a great tool for finding out a bit of information about websites.

Those two things together mean lots of authors publish there, lots of
people looking for content to add to their websites or blogs visit these website directories to collect articles for there sites.

Using Article Architect you can add the top directories to your list and post your articles just to these directories. Alternatevly you could try and blast your articles to hundreds of directories and see what the results are. If you try this make sure that it is for a new website, or something that is not doing very well with the other option.

Try and post around 10 articles at a time to your article directories. This way you can expect a nice big hit from google who will recognise the traffic you are getting and push you higher up the rankings.

make sure that your website is up and running and ready to make sales before you list your articles. You will be throwing away good traffic and lost earnings if you do it the wrong way around.
